My Dream
I would like to travel around the world with a loved one and watch as many sunsets as i can. It would be best if the weather is good and it comes with magnificent sceneries and the sounds of nature. Sometimes, i gotta admit that the sound of nature is euphoric. I want to stay in a hotel room on the top floor with a full window view of a busking city so that when i look out of the window at night, i see the beautiful lights under the dark quiet sky. I want to visit Chicago, Cassablanca and Massachusetts. I heard the western countryside is nice. Its simple but beautiful. Quiet but filled with laughter of the people who are contented with what they have over there. I want to experience a farm stay. Wake up to the sounds of the farm animals. Bathe horses and milk cows. I want to see real cowboys and join them for their campfire gathering sessions. As well as sing along to the good old folk songs that they play with their guitars and banjos. One day, eventually, i believe i will find a guy who will bring me to all these places, experience the life that i've mentioned and maybe more, as well as spend the rest of his life with me till we both turn old and grey. Until then, we will still stroll on the beach hand in hand, as we watch the sun submerge into the vast seas once again.
-Heather :)

Hello people!

ATTENTION!! YOU MUST AT LEAST READ HALF OF THIS POST!!!!

Have not been blogging for some time cos of exams. I'm damn worried about my maths paper. I think i would have to let ah huan down again.
Last thursday when he was going down the row to collect our maths paper 2, he stopped at my desk and gave that grin and asked me "so how? can pass?" then i was like "yeah, full marks", and he went "wahh, full marks ah?", then he continued collecting the papers down the row.
LOL. I think he's a great but not wise man. Or maybe a wise but not great man. Sometimes i like him, and sometimes i don't. Oh my, what nonsense am i blabbering about? I think i'm going bonkers because of stress :D
Monday's fnn paper. Really hope i will do well for it. Its like the subject that i have the most confidence in :D
Yesterday was bio paper 4. I didn't study at all for it. So if i still i get an A1 for it, im gonna call myself god. But thats very unlikely to happen la. Cos mrs quek bombed so many questions on sexual reproduction in plants, and the essay questions were on the nervous system and reproduction in plants, both which are my weakest topics. :D
After the paper went to Cp with joan for lunch. asm didn't join us cos she wanted to tp mac home. So left with me and joan. Went to kfc for lunch, and we spent 2 hours eating and talking there. Then dilly dally walk around cp and went to metro to try on clothes for fun cos we had too much time on our hands. :D
There's this blue top that really caught my eye and its really nice but it costs a freaking $39.90 so i didn't get it. Oh welllll.
After that i accompanied joan to get her ear pierced. Third one. OMG it was damn scary! When i saw the woman pressed the gun thing into her ear i felt like crying. It looks so painful! And i don't know how joan managed to bear with the pain. I wanna get more piercings(cos i've only got one pathetic hole on each ear), but im afraid of the pain. So i'll forget about it. But im jealous of joan! three holes on one ear. So nice! Ah whatever la.

Had tution at wei hong's house today. Fiona taught us more on coordinate geometry. Walao eh, if she had taught us everything that we have learnt today, i bet i would have done better for my maths paper 2.

Anyway, i was feeling bored and i decided to search for my name online. And i got so much interesting information and history of my name!

HEATHER
A low spreading plant with small purple, pink or white flowers.
Heather grows wild in Europe on highlands with poor soil.
(Definition adapted from oxford dictionary)

Pictures of Heather

Here's a short story on Heather flowers that i found on the internet.

When God first made the world, He looked at the bare and barren hillsides and thought how nice it would be to cover them with some kind of beautiful tree or flower. So he turned to the Giant Oak, the biggest and strongest of all of the trees he had made, and asked him if he would be willing to go up to the bare hills to help make them look more attractive. But the oak explained that he needed a good depth of soil in order to grow and that the hillsides would be far too rocky for him to take root.

So God left the oak tree and turned to the honeysuckle with its lovely yellow flower and beautiful sweet fragrance. He asked the honeysuckle if she would care to grow on the hillsides and spread her beauty and fragrance amongst the barren slopes. But the honeysuckle explained that she needed a wall or a fence or even another plant to grow against, and for that reason, it would be quite impossible for her to grow in the hills.

So God then turned to one of the sweetest and most beautiful of all the flowers - the rose. God asked the rose if she would care to grace the rugged highlands with her splendour. But the rose explained that the wind and the rain and the cold on the hills would destroy her, and so she would not be able to grow on the hills.
Disappointed with the oak, the honeysuckle and the rose, God turned away. At length, he came across a small, low lying, green shrub with a flower of tiny petals -some purple and some white. It was a heather.
God asked the heather the same question that he’d asked the others. "Will you go and grow upon the hillsides to make them more beautiful?"
The heather thought about the poor soil, the wind and the rain - and wasn’t very sure that she could do a good job. But turning to God she replied that if he wanted her to do it, she would certainly give it a try.
God was very pleased.

He was so pleased in fact that he decided to give the heather some gifts as a reward for her willingness to do as he had asked.

Firstly he gave her the strength of the oak tree - the bark of the heather is the strongest of any tree or shrub in the whole world.

Next he gave her the fragrance of the honeysuckle - a fragrance which is frequently used to gently perfume soaps and potpouris.

Finally he gave her the sweetness of the rose - so much so that heather is one of the bees favourite flowers. And to this day, heather is renowned especially for these three God given gifts. :D

Another myth that i found online (about Heather)

Most Heather is purple in color, but there is also rare white heather. Rumored to grow over the final resting places of fairies and only where no blood has been shed, the plant is said to be extremely lucky.

Queen Victoria introduced carrying white heather at weddings for luck. Some Clans have attributed victory to wearing white heather sprays, or evading capture by hiding in patches of white heather.

According to myth, the Celtic Bard Ossian's beautiful daughter, Malvina, was betrothed to a gallant warrior named Oscar. One day, Malvina was awaiting Oscar's return from war, when she was approached by a messenger. Oscar had died in battle and sent the messenger with a spray of heather to give to Malvina as a final token of his love. Malvina began to cry and her tears fell on the heather, which immediately turned white. She wandered the moors sobbing, her tears turning every heather plant they touched to white. She said "although it is the symbol of my sorrow, may the white heather bring good fortune to all who find it."
Since then the white Heather has also symbolised eternal love.
Symbolizing admiration and good luck, heather is also believed to have protective powers.
The fae of this flower are attracted to shy humans. Fairies that live among the heather undisturbed are said to feast on the heather stalks. A flower of peace and solitude

>>So cool right?! :DDD And my favourite colour happens to be white! Yay i love white! Now it holds a special meaning in my heart. :)

Another interesting fact that i've found. I actually heal people!! LOL :D

The Healing Properties of Heather
The healing properties of heather have been recorded as far back as the middle ages, with books on other herbs and their uses dating even further back to the seventh century.
A German book, written in 1565, describes the famous doctor Paulus Aegineta as using the flowers, leaves and stems to heal all types of sores incuding ulcers - both internally and externally.
Fuchs wrote in 1543 that the healing effect of the plant could ease insect bites. Whilst Matthioulos, who lived round about the same time, used the plant in drug form to heal snake bites, eye infections, infections of the spleen and in preventing the formation of stones in internal organs.
Nicolas Alexandre, a Benedictine monk, wrote that boiling heather stems and drinking the liquid for thirty consecutive days, morning and evening, was sufficient to dissolve kidney stones. He added, that the patient should also bathe in the Heather water.
Heather has even been found to help nursing mothers produce more milk. Schelenz wrote in 1914 that Heather was a household remedy for all sorts of illnesses and complaints. However by the turn of the century, heather, in medical terms was generally associated with the prevention and treatment of stones in the bladder and kidney area.
Since 1930, Heather, referred to by the medical profession as Herba Callunae, has been acknowledged by many doctors and chemists as effective against arthritis, spleen complaints, formation of stones, stomach and back ache, even paralysis and tuberculosis. This remarkable plant, which is quite safe for use by diabetics, is also known to be good for sore throats, gout, catarrh and coughs. Some say it even cleanses the blood getting rid of exzema and fevers.
Medical herbalists, to this day, use Calluna vulgaris in the treatment of certain disorders. Containing tannin and several other components, it is used particularly in the treatment of cystitis (bladder infection), as its action is diuretic and antimicrobial.
In the mountain regions of Europe the plant is still used to make a linement for arthritis and rheumatism by softening the herb in alcohol.

Amazing huh? :D
I didn't know theres so much history, facts and myths behind the Heather flower. Now i like my name even more. I love my name :D
Heather flowers are strong and can withstand hardships. So i should be strong too. I have to. Joan and shumei lets stay strong together! :D Ok,stop this crap.
Actually there are lots more about this flower. But i only pick out those that caught my attention more. If you wanna know more, go google the name. :)
Ok, i think i should stop bombing the HEATHER THEORY on my blog and go to sleep now. :D
Goodnight world!
